Over 1,200 Nigerian orphanages apply for Nigerian music star Davido’s 250 million naira donation


Award-winning Nigerian musician David Adeleke, known as Davido, revealed on Saturday that his 250 million naira donation to orphanages across the country had received more than 1,234 applications.

The artist took to his Instagram stories to provide an update on the selection and disbursement processes of the N250millian fund.



The bid, which was only open to registered orphanages in Nigeria, lasted three days.

He said: “The verification is ongoing and the report will be released by December 15th. The selection and disbursement on 18-19 and the press release is expected by December 20.

“1234 replied; 852 without orphanage names; 382 with names of orphanage.

“The Nigerian National Orphanage Association has sent the list of foster homes that fall under its coverage, which to some extent helps us in the verification process. God protects you. We elevate ourselves by elevating others. “

As part of his birthday last month, the musician called on his friends to send him money to mark the day.

Nigerians from far and near sent a total of 200 million naira to Davido in response to his appeal.

The hip-hop star then added 50 million Naira of his own money to the fund before donating the entire 250 million Naira to orphanages across Nigeria.

His kind gesture was praised around the world with other celebrities in Nigeria invited to emulate the young musician.
