Local cinemas host summer movie series just for kids

This summer has already started well with audiences flocking to hit action movies like “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jurassic World Dominion” in huge numbers. However, these big movies aren’t for everyone, and families with little moviegoers at home might feel a little left out. Luckily, several movie theaters in Central Florida are hosting summer film festivals just for young audiences looking to get out of the heat and enjoy recent and classic kids’ titles.

DreamWorks and Illumination movies from “Shrek” to “Sing 2” are featured during the Kids’ Summer Series at the Studio Movie Grill, which features a different movie every week Monday through Thursday at noon from now until to August 11. Tickets are $6 and include a small popcorn and a small drink. The popular chain’s Sunset Walk and Seminole locations host screenings for this series of films, and tickets are available now on the Studio Movie Grill website.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from now until July 20, Regal will present a plethora of children’s titles as part of its new Summer Movie Express series. All Regal locations will have these screenings, including Pointe Orlando Theaters, Winter Park Village and Wekiva Riverwalk. Films screened will include recent films such as “Space Jam: A New Legacy”, “Tom and Jerry” and “Sing 2”. Tickets are $2 and available now on Regal’s official website.

Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse film series kicks off June 15 with 8 weeks of kid-friendly screenings on Wednesdays of films including “Peter Rabbit 2,” “Clifford,” and “The Boss Baby: Family Business.” Tickets are $1.50 and include a $1 discount on kids snacks or a popcorn and drink combo of any size. This series is only set to take place in Central Florida at the Lakeland Cinemark, but times may be added later for additional locations. More information is available on the Cinemark website.

Although it does not offer a series of children’s films, Cinépolis also offers discounted children’s tickets for Monday film screenings.
